Signed on the dotted line.
That's what West Â鶹AV's Lynden Lakovic did on Saturday morning (July 5), as he signed his entry level contract (ELC) with the Washington Capitals. This comes just eight days after Washington drafted Lakovic in the first round (27th overall) in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
The contract is a three-year deal, in which the 18-year-old will make an average annual value of $975,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 in the AHL. Despite this, it is expected the Capitals will loan Lakovic back to the Western Hockey League (WHL) to return to play for the Moose Jaw Warriors.
The captain of the Warriors was ranked the 14th best North American skater going into the draft. He's coming off a season where he scored 27 goals and added 31 assists in just 47 games. He also helped the Warriors win the WHL Championship in 2024.
He has joined former Â鶹AV Rocket Andrew Cristall in the Capitals' organization.
