It was a wire-to-wire win for North Vancouver's James Legault and Steven Lecuyer at the 2025 2025 G&G Brands/Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Golf Championship at The Rise Resort in Vernon.
The 36-hole tournament was played Monday and Tuesday, July 7 and 8.
The pair from the Seymour Creek Golf Centre took the lead following Round One after their spectacular 58 (-14) in the two-pro best-ball format. Having never played the course and arriving on a flight that morning, Lecuyer shot 59 (-13) on his own ball, a stunning achievement that marked the first time an individual association member shot 59 in a PGA of BC event.
The duo took a three-stroke lead into the final round over Oliver's Fairview Mountain Golf Clubâs Brian McDonald and Rob Tadey, who also enjoyed an incredible best-ball performance, firing an 11-under 61 in Round One. The McDonald/Tadey combo was looking for a fourth Pro-Assistant title.
Round Two was contested as a two-pro scramble. Legault and Lecuyer maintained their momentum from the day before, opening their second round with four straight birdies.
Playing in the final group alongside Legault and Lecuyer, McDonald and Tadey matched their competitors with four opening birdies of their own. By the turn, Fairview Mountain had cut the deficit to just two shots, but on the 11th and 12th holes, Seymour Creek bolstered their lead with back-to-back eagles to go four strokes up with six holes to play.
While Fairview Mountain added three more birdies across the final six holes, Seymour Creek birdied 17 and 18 to seal a three-shot victory.
With a 14-under 58 in best-ball and a 12-under 60 in the scramble, Seymour Creekâs 26-under set the record for best Pro-Assistant total of all time.
âItâs just a great event. We were having a ton of fun out there,â said Legault. âSteven played unbelievable golf the first day, which made today that much easier. We kept it in play, made some putts and it was a really great day.â
While Lecuyerâs pinpoint strikes and perfect putts fueled the pairâs opening round, Legaultâs strong short game ultimately secured the championship title as he sunk both birdie putts on the closing holes.
âWe ham-and-egged it really well. If I hit a bad shot, James would come up clutch. If I missed a putt, he would make it,â said Lecuyer. âIt was awesome teamwork. We were losing a little steam there but finished birdie-birdie after James made a couple of nice putts.â
While the Fairview Mountain duo of McDonald and Tadey fell just short of their fourth career victory in the event, their final score of 23-under surpassed the previous tournament record score by one stroke. Following their opening round best-ball 61, the pair shot 60 (-12) in Round Two.
Rob Anderson and Jason Jurimae, representing Âé¶čAV Golf and Country Club, finished at 20-under par, including a joint-best scramble score of 59 in the final round, to earn third place overall. James Presnail and Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club, Âé¶čAV) matched Âé¶čAVâs 59 in the scramble.
Legault and Lecuyer collected the $3,200 first prize cheque. McDonald and Tadey from Oliver's Fairview Mountain Golf Club pocketed $1,900, while Anderson/Jurimae finished alone in third for $1,300.
Ryan Stugis and Finlay Young from Âé¶čAV's Groove4Golf, and Sergej Dronov and Mewail Kidane from Richmond's Pacific Golf Academy tied for fourth at -19. Each team won $975.
Presnail and Kitts ended up sixth in the field of 46 teams, finishing at -18 to earn $850.
David Munn and Brody St-Martin from Shuswap National near Salmon Arm tied for seventh place with Russ Latimer and Shane Pugliese from Âé¶čAV's Black Mountain Golf Club. Each finished at -17 and pocketed $700.
The Vernon Golf and Country Club duo of Adam Blair and Myles Johnson finished ninth at -16 to collect $550.

Cody Bell and Jeff Liddle from the Talking Rock Golf Course in Chase, and Peter Hopley and John Mlikotic from Gallagher's Canyoun Golf and Country Club in Âé¶čAV, were in a four-way tie for 15th place at -13. Each team won $272.50.
The pair of Josh Horsthuis and Steven Sauer from the Summerland Golf and Country Club tied for 21st spot and earned $215.
