Nancy Cameron has decided to leave her position as CEO of Tourism Âé¶čAV to relocate with her family to Vancouver Island.
âWe would like to extend our thanks and deepest appreciation for Nancyâs contributions to the development and operation of this highly effective organization that generates such benefits to our tourism businesses and community as a wholeâ said Daniel Bibby, Chair of Tourism Âé¶čAV, in a press release.
âHer commitment to this industry locally, provincially and nationally and the respect she has earned through such involvement, contributed greatly to her successful organization leadership of Tourism Âé¶čAV.â
Understanding the tourism potential of Âé¶čAV and area, Cameron has been given the credit for developing Tourism Âé¶čAV into the current not-for-profit organization that it is.
It is governed by an industry elected board of directors and is responsible for generating customers for the many area businesses that rely on tourism for their success.
The organization has seen success under her leadership, including the implementation of sustainable, performance-based funding through the municipal and regional district tax, a 60 per cent increase in the number of annual visitors to Âé¶čAV and the Central Okanagan and most recently, the approval from City Council to relocate the Visitor Centre to a more pedestrian friendly, prominent location.
âI would like to extend my sincerest thanks to the Tourism Âé¶čAV Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and tourism businesses for their support and enthusiasm for Tourism Âé¶čAV and this vibrant and growing tourism economyâ said Cameron, in the press release from Tourism Âé¶čAV.
âMy time with this organization has been filled with rewarding opportunities and Iâve had the good fortune to work with many very special people who are committed to this industryâs success.â
Tourism Âé¶čAVâs Board of Directorâs will begin a search for Cameronâs replacement in the weeks ahead.
