The Piña Perro’s Dog Rescue is currently hosting its first-annual winter-themed auction with items from a variety of local businesses up for grabs and a total prize value of more than $8,000.

Piña Perro’s Dog Rescue (PPDR) is a not-for-profit organization that rescues dogs from an island in Mexico called Holbox. Since its inception in 2021, the operation has found homes for more than 100 dogs. The organization is based in Calgary and Revelstoke and the auction features several items from local businesses to help fundraise for PPDR.

What started as an organization devoted to helping find homes for rescue dogs from Mexico, quickly grew to include finding homes for dogs at local shelters in B.C. and Alberta.

Founder Eliza Kurdziel expressed her thanks to the local businesses that donated auction items in a press release.

“I was absolutely floored by how quickly local businesses stepped up to help us! Within a day and a half, we received all the donations for this auction,†she said.

“A huge thank you and shout out to all the wonderful businesses.â€

Some of the top items up for grabs in the auction are the ‘Bucket List Adventure’, ‘Revelstoke Slope Slide’, and ‘Peaked Out’.
