The West Âé¶čAV Warriors started 2025 with a come from behind win over the Spruce Grove Saints at Royal LePage Place Saturday (Jan. 4).

The win comes after a Warriors’ loss to Vernon on Jan. 3.

Spruce Grove struck first with Owen Leckelt scoring near the six minute mark of the first period for a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors found their footing early in the second. Carter Oakenfold was awarded a penalty shot after being hauled down on a breakaway. He snapped a wrist shot past Saints goaltender Ryan De Kok to event the score at 1-1.

West Âé¶čAV took the lead midway through the period when Jack Farrell collected his third goal of the season to put the Warriors up 2-1. Before the period was over Elias Callgren made it 3-1 with a backhand shot that beat De Kok.

The Saints pushed back in the third period, cutting the score to 3-2 when Carson Lloyd (2) was credited with a goal that deflected off two Warriors players and sailed past goaltender Bor Glavič. The Warriors nailed down the 5-2 win two empty-net goals from Dylan Krayer (11) and Sam LeDrew (14) in the final 90 seconds.

With the victory, the Warriors jump over the Saints in the standings, reclaiming eighth place in the Interior Conference.

West Âé¶čAV continues their five-game home stand Friday (Jan.  10) when they host the Okotoks Oilers at Royal LePage Place.
