The Âé¶čAV Rockets have added goaltender Brodan Salmond to their roster for the remainder of the WHL season.
Salmond, 17, has been playing with the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL this season where he has posted an 11-6-0-0 record and a 3.02 goals against average in 20 games played as a rookie.
The Rockets made the move as starting netminder Jackson Whistle continues to rehab from injury.
âJackson hasnât come along as fast as we had hoped and we continue to assess his recovery,â said Hamilton. âThis is an insurance move on our part to bring another goaltender into our organization.â
Michael Herringer has played 12 straight games in goal for Âé¶čAV since Whistle was first sidelined.
Brady Lenardon, from the Âé¶čAV junior B Chiefs, has been serving as backup since but hasn't seen any action.
Salmond was a 10th round draft pick of the Rockets in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. A 5-foot-11, 180 pound native of Calgary, Salmond joins the Rockets as an affiliate player.
âAs a 17-year-old Brodan has done everything weâve asked him to do this season,â said Camrose Coach/GM Boris Rybalka. âHe has a tremendous work ethic, his compete and battle level is very high and he has a great attitude. I think heâs going to come to Âé¶čAV and push their goaltenders and help them have success.â
Salmond is expected to arrive in Âé¶čAV on Wednesday.
