Canadian country music golden girl rides into Vernon

Juno Award winner Meghan Patrick performs Sunday, July 6, at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre as part of the centre's Signature Concert Series

A golden girl of Canadian country music brings her show to Vernon for the first time ever.

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society (VDPAC) will present widely acclaimed Canadian country sensation Meghan Patrick, as part of its Signature Concert Series Sunday, July 6, at 7:30 p.m.

Patrick is a Juno Award winner, and back-to-back recipient of Canadian Country Music Awards' Female Artist of the Year. She will bring her band, multiple hits, and songs from latest album, Golden Child, to Vernon. The title track from her sixth and latest album, Golden Child, has climbed into the Top 10 Canadian Country Radio and Top 40 on US Country Radio, and receives regular airplay locally on 105.7 The Ranch.

To date, she has amassed over 121 cumulative all-time streams across all platforms, 335,000 TikTok followers, 2.7 million Likes, and an extensive video playlist on YouTube.

She is also an accomplished and published songwriter, nominated for the CCMA Songwriter of the Year in 2023. She has collaborated with such notables as Gord Bamford, Chantal Kreviazuk, Marty Dodson, Patricia Conroy, Buddy Owen, Steve Smith, Bruce Wallace, Anthony Anderson, Phil Barton, Phil O’Donnell and Vernon’s own Andrew Allen. She counts Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris and Aretha Franklin as her major influences, and John Prine, Neil Young and Waylon Jennings as a few of her musical inspirations.

Widely-regarded in the industry, Patrick, from Bowmanville, Ont., but living in Nashville, has shared the stage with such country icons as Lady Antebellum, Dwight Yoakam, Jon Pardi, Kip Moore, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, and Gord Bamford. In 2017, she supported Tom Cochrane (performing at VDPAC on July 16), on his 25th Anniversary Mad Mad World Tour; and made her Grand Ole Opry Debut on April 11, 2023.

Patrick will be joined in Vernon by the Okanagan’s own Dawson Gray as the special guest opener. Gray has quickly established himself as one of Canada’s top emerging country acts. His latest singles, Back to Leaving and Friends with the Bar Staff (2024) have received more than 1.2 million total streams.

The VDPAC Society introduced its Signature Concert Series to complement, and as a series of benefits to help support, the society's annual SPOTLIGHT Season programming.

“We will continue to feature headlining Canadian artists from different music genres,” said VDPAC executive director Jim Harding, “who in turn will be helping to support emerging artists as opening acts and those we can feature in our upcoming Marie Fleming Studio sessions.

"We truly appreciate Meghan Patrick with heartfelt thanks for joining our Signature Concert Series.”

Tickets are $45, available at VDPAC's Ticket Seller box office from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; by calling 250-549-SHOW (7469); or 24 hours online at .
