A small but mighty contingent of members made their presence felt last weekend at the Canada West Invitational in Burnaby.

Caine McCabe, 14, Sloane Betker, 9, and her younger sister, Peyton Betker, 7, all won silver medals at the tournament, while Brandon Leatherdale, 16, fought to a fourth-place finish.

Among the ·É±ð±ð°ì±ð²Ô»å’s highlights was Sarah °ä±ô²¹°ù°ì±ð’s gold medal win.

The nine-year-old performed a beautiful Ippon throw on her ´Ç±è±è´Ç²Ô±ð²Ô³Ù—a boy of her ²¹²µ±ð—i²Ô the first 10 seconds of the match.

â€Àá³Ù was all very exciting to watch and coach these fierce competitors, they showed so much ³ó±ð²¹°ù³Ù,†said Â鶹AV Judo Club coach

“T³ó±ð²â demonstrated the spirit of strength under pressure, and even though they all »å¾±»å²Ô’t win gold, each one of them took away a lot of wisdom about their fighting.

“T³ó±ð²â were most impressive with their sportsmanlike conduct, and I ³¦´Ç³Ü±ô»å²Ô’t be ±è°ù´Ç³Ü»å±ð°ù.â€

Next up for Â鶹AV Judo Club members is the local Okanagan Open in February, before they begin training for the Canadian Championships in May.
