Warm weather has opened Vernonâs BMX track earlier than usual.
Ranger Park opened to the public and club riders Friday, March 15.
âThis is the first time in years weâve been able to be open for spring break,â said club president Shylo Orchard. âUsually weâre still shoveling snow.â
While the club season doesnât start until April 8, the track is ready to ride for anyone eager to get some laps in.
The dirt has been rolled and raked and âitâs in the most amazing shape right now,â according to Orchard.
The starting gate has also been freshened up with a new wrap from Speedpro Signs.
The gates will remain open unless it rains.
âWhen it gets slick and slippery it gets dangerous,â said Orchard, adding volunteers check the track on a regular basis to monitor conditions.
