The Vernon Supreme Court Trial of a man accused of killing another man on a road off Vernon's Westside Road in 2022 has been put back until August.

The trial of Peter Michael Visintainer, born in 1961, was supposed to have started Monday, July 21, but at a pre-trial conference last week, Visintainer's defence council sought and was granted a brief adjournment of the trial.

A new date of Tuesday, Aug. 5, has been set as the start day, and the trial is slated to begin at 10 a.m. in Courtroom 301.

A Supreme Court Justice will hear the matter of Visintainer's case alone. He originally elected to be tried by judge and jury, but he appeared in court Monday, June 23, to apply to change his election to judge alone, which was granted.

Visintainer is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the 2022 death of Wolf-Ingo Beyer, whose body was found on Six Mile Creek Road off Westside Road on May 29, 2022.

Visintainer was arrested a few days later and charged with second-degree murder, but that charge was later upgraded to first-degree. Visintainer remains in custody.
