RCMP are currently securing a scene in West Â鶹AV following an overnight shooting inside a home.
The West Â鶹AV RCMP responded July 4 at 11:16 p.m., to a report of a shot fired inside a home in the 700 block of Spland Road.
"Police attended the scene and discovered a woman, who was conscious at the time and appeared to be suffering from a single gunshot wound," said Const. Jesse O'Donaghey, in a press release.
"The 31-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in serious condition suffering from potentially life threatening injuries."
A 28-year-old West Â鶹AV man had been taken into police custody at the scene. He remains in custody at this time.
The West Â鶹AV RCMP General Investigations Section (GIS) has assumed control of the ongoing investigation. RCMP have secured the scene awaiting a warrant to search the property. RCMP can confirm that this was an isolated incident.
