Would a neighbourhood by any other name be as sweet?
If itās Rutland youāre talking about, the answer is simply, donāt mess with the name. Rutland is a name and community people are proud of and the reaction we got to a story on the subject was tremendous. Take a minute to read some of the comments on the story for a Family Day dose of community pride.

Roxanne Stewart Rutland should remain Rutland. I am from Rutland and proud of itā¤ļø! If Rutland even remotely resembled Compton, Iām sure BCIT would not have put a campus there for all to access. Changing the name will not improve the behaviour of one set on doing wrong. I am āStraight Outta Rutlandā!
Alex Draper All season the Ā鶹AV Chiefs have proudly used the hash tag ā Straight out of Rutlandā we are very, very proud to play in the Rutland Arena!

I feel it would be disrespectful to the history of the town to change it.
Itās just typical people trying to find fault where there isnāt any.

Eric Juzwishyn āI love Rutland, I live in Rutland, it is a very nice community but the name does not reflect the real condition in Rutland.
