Michelle Mazur was named Miss Âé¶¹AV Lady of the Lake for 2016 at the pageant finale held Friday at the Âé¶¹AV Community Theatre.
Mazur replaces Camryn Peters, who has held the Miss Âé¶¹AV title for the last year.
Joining Mazur as Âé¶¹AV's official royalty ambassadors is Miss Âé¶¹AV First Princess Rachel Sousa.
Mazur, sponsored by Lordco, is a Grade 11 student at Âé¶¹AV Christian School who hopes to become a pediatrician so she can help children
Among her interests currently, Mazur works at the Cactus Club as a restaurant hostess, has reached out to help people in need through various programs at her school including traveling to India to work at a children's home in Subathu, sits on the student council, plays the trumpet in the school band, volunteers at Cottonwoods care home and is a member of the Polish Cultural Society dance group the Polish Eagles.
Sousa, the pageant runnerup, was sponsored by Rotory Club of Âé¶¹AV, and is a student entering Grade 12 at Âé¶¹AV Secondary School in the French Immersion program.
She also works as a hostess at the Cactus Club restaurant, studied dance at the Royal Canadian Ballet and plays a number of musical instruments. For her post-secondary studies, she plans to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree, and specialize in the area of neuroscience.
Mazur and Sousa will become representatives for the City of Âé¶¹AV at a number of events locally and abroad in the coming year.
