The city has appointed Dwight Seymour as the new fire chief for the Âé¶čAV Fire Department.

Seymour is replacing outgoing chief Travis Whiting who will be taking over the same role for the Whitehorse Fire Department in Yukon.

The incoming chief will officially step into the role on Feb. 19. He has been an assistant chief in training and prevention in Âé¶čAV since 2021, and was promoted to deputy chief of operations the following year.

“Dwight has deployed to support a number of provincial emergencies over the past few years in leadership positions,” said Stu Leatherdale, Divisional Director, Corporate & Protective Services. “I know Dwight’s passion for safety and leadership development will position him well for his new role.”
