The Sicamous RCMP responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 1 near the Bruhn Bridge, slowing traffic the first day without daytime work closures.

The first day closures of the Bruhn Bridge in Sicamous stopped for the summer, traffic was still stalled after a two-vehicle collision.

At 2 p.m. on June 26, Sicamous RCMP responded to a crash on Highway 1 near Old Sicamous Road in the 50 km/h construction zone. Officers determined an eastbound Nissan car had crossed the line into the oncoming lane and sideswiped a utility trailer being pulled by a F350 Ford pickup headed west.

"The elderly driver of the Nissan had been travelling from Vancouver Island and she appeared confused to the attending officer," Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a media release, adding there were no injuries sustained.

The Nissan was towed from the scene, with traffic slowed for a short time.

"The highway is now open during the day at the Bruhn Bridge or the summers months," NcNeil added. "However, construction continues, with the posted speed limit remaining at 50 km/h."
