A Âé¶čAV dog rescue society is warning pet owners after it claims at least two dogs were poisoned near the Myra Canyon Trestles.
While some earlier reports had said a dog had died as a result, they were fortunately wrong, but the warning is still an important one.
At least two dogs have allegedly become extremely sick and required veterinarian care.
, pet owners are being told to avoid the McCulloch and Myra Canyon trestles area as poisoned pieces of meat and treats were scattered throughout the trails.
As it stands, these are the only reports in the Âé¶čAV area.
âDo not walk with your animals in these areas right now or keep a very watchful eye on them and on leash,â reads a post by Paws it Forward. âWe know that many dogs can âleave it,â but even if they touch the item they can become ill.â
The Âé¶čAV RCMP has not had a file opened on this situation, but they encourage anyone affected to inform the RCMP and the Âé¶čAV SPCA immediately so an investigation can be conducted.
A sentiment echoed by Âé¶čAV BCSPCA branch manager Sean Hogan.
âWeâre definitely concerned if this in fact is happening. We donât want animals hurt like that,â said Hogan.

Hogan said the above incident was not reported to the SPCA, but they hope the owner might come forward and let them know.
âI have not been able to verify this yet, nothing has been reported to the BCPSCA cruelty reporting hotline yet,â said Hogan. âBut, anytime animals are being targeted like that it sends up alarm bells all over the place and by rights, I am glad someone is spreading the word as that is a popular hiking spot.â
