Âé¶čAV Water Polo Club recently held two exhibition games as part of their winter development tournament at the H2O Centre.
One of the games showcased Canadian Menâs National Team veteran Gaelan Patterson.
The match-up featured Âé¶čAV Water Polo Club facing off against a Calgary Masters team resulting in a 13-11 victory for Âé¶čAV in the first game.
Calgary won a second game 10-9 with outstanding efforts by Âé¶čAV players Amy Yule, Mark Rogaar, Clarke Schafer, and Mason Baughen. With the series tied, both teams are set to meet again in Calgary on June 1-2.
Patterson also led a referee workshop which saw a strong turnout from youth and adult players within the local water polo community.
âWater polo has been a part of my life for nearly two decades, and filling the pool with games across all age groups was a fantastic way to conclude my time in Âé¶čAV,â Patterson said.
The tournament attracted more than 90 athletes ranging in age from 6 to 60 from across B.C., as well as Calgary and Regina.
âSeeing the growth of the Âé¶čAV Water Polo community is so cool,â said John Csikos, with Calgary Masters. âOur weekends in Âé¶čAV are now a cornerstone of our Calgary Masters Club.â
Upcoming events on the water polo calendar include the 17U Western Conference from March 8-10 in Richmond, a Community Water Polo Tournament April 27-28 in Coquitlam, and the Âé¶čAV Classic Lake Water Polo Tournament July 13-14 in Âé¶čAV.
