Multiple people arrested as RCMP execute search warrant at Rutland home

Neighbours say it began around 3:30 p.m. on July 17

There is a significant police presence on Sylvania Crescent in Rutland.

Neighbours tell Black Press Media that the incident began around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday (July 17). Witnesses say police used two flash bangs and were firing what appeared to be bean bag or baton rounds into a home.

Several people have been arrested.

"Â鶹AV RCMP with the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) is currently executing a planned search warrant on a residence on Sylvania Road," Cpl. Allison Konsmo, Media Relations officer, confirmed in an email.

Sylvania Crescent is currently closed at Nickel Road.

This home has been targeted by RCMP in the past. In October 2021, police raided the residence as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Two men and a woman were arrested back on Oct. 15, 2020, for outstanding arrest warrants for other matters. Two other adults were arrested and subsequently released.

At the time Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy stated police seized quantities of suspected illicit drugs from inside the residence.
