The executive director of the Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) is seeking the B.C. NDP nomination for Âé¶čAV-Lake Country-Coldstream.
âIâm eager to take on this new challenge,â said Anna Warwick Sears. âWe need a strong, clear voice for this riding in Victoria.â
She pointed out last yearâs wildfires and protecting homes and water supplies from extreme weather and climate change as motivation for her decision.
âIâm also really motivated by the shortage of affordable housing, the need to improve our infrastructure, and the challenges with our healthcare system. Time is short, and I appreciate the real action being taken by David Ebyâs NDP.â
Warwick Sears added that if selected as candidate she will be a voice for B.C. Interior issues.
âWhich are not always well understood on the coast. I have spent my career listening to community needs, and advocating for community solutions. I intend to take this approach with me to Victoria.â
OBWB Chair and Lake Country Mayor Blair Ireland, Vernon Mayor Victor Cumming, and Water Supply Association of B.C. Chair Bob Hrasko, endorsed Warwick Sears in a media release.
âHer abilities and energy are recognized regionally, nationally, and internationally across all party lines,â Cumming said. âShe would be an excellent asset to our legislature.â
Warwick Sears will continue in her role at the OBWB through the provincial election, scheduled on or before October 19.
She has been with the board since 2006, and its executive director since 2007.
