Water discolouration in some West Â鶹AV neighbourhoods is a result of the Rose Valley Reservoir experiencing changed environmental conditions due to the McDougall Creek wildfire.
A media release from the city states increased levels of iron and manganese in the reservoir may be contributing to the discoloration.
“Adjustments are being made to reduce the discolouration, but this will take time.â€
The adjustments, along with other efforts such as watermain flushing, will help alleviate the discoloration over time.
Ongoing testing, sampling and analysis indicate the discoloration is aesthetic, appearing as turbidity. No water quality advisories are required according to the city’s release.
