More than 1,700 new student spaces are being added to the province, with 165 of them going to a West Âé¶čAV elementary school.
On Friday, May 30, the B.C. Government announced construction started earlier this year on many new classrooms across the province. West Âé¶čAV's Chief Tomat Elementary is one of the schools receiving new spaces of seven new classrooms, totalling 165 new student spaces.
âThe demand for school spaces is growing in communities across B.C., and weâre working urgently to deliver schools faster,â said Bowinn Ma, Minister of Infrastructure. âWeâre working to speed up delivery and our historic capital investments are making real progress across the province, strengthening communities and ensuring students have the schools and classrooms they need to succeed.â
Langley, Abbotsford, qathet (Powell River), Comox, Nanaimo, Pemberton and Prince Rupert are also receiving new student spaces.
The project funded by the province totals $340 million.
