Â鶹AV city council will be asked to give initial consideration to rezone properties for two separate child care proposals at its June 23 meeting.
One is in Southeast Â鶹AV and another near Bellevue Creek Elementary in the Lower Mission.
At 3466 Hall Road, the owner is seeking permission to rezone their single-family home to operate a licensed childcare centre for more than eight children. The daycare would run weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and offer a new option for families in the surrounding neighbourhood.
City staff say the plan lines up with Â鶹AV’s Official Community Plan (OCP), which supports expanding access to childcare, especially in rural areas. The home enough parking and a designated area for drop-offs and pick-ups. Although the property isn’t connected to city sewer, staff has confirmed the septic system can handle the added use.
A proposal at 4578 Raymer Road, near École Bellevue Creek Elementary, would transform two existing buildings into a childcare centre for up to 44 children. One building would be used for kids aged five and up, and the second would be set up for children under five, featuring a nap room, dining space, and indoor play area. Both buildings would also have designated outdoor play zones.
