A missing UBC Okanagan student has been found dead in Vancouver.
Japanese exchange Mia Saito, was declared missing on Jan. 9 after taking a flight from Âé¶čAV to Vancouver on Jan. 7.
On Friday, Jan. 26, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) confirmed to Black Press Media that Saito was found dead and stated her death doesnât appear to be part of a crime. It wasnât confirmed when Saito died but according to a social media post, Saito died on Jan. 12 at the latest.
âShe passed away due to an unexpected incident,â said the social media post. âUnfortunately, Iâm unable to provide any specific details regarding the incident.â
Black Press Media has also reached out to the Âé¶čAV RCMP for additional comment.
