A school zone blitz conducted by Lake Country RCMP resulted in seven tickets and many warnings for various infractions being handed out.
Officers set up the blitz on Monday morning (Nov. 25) near and around Peter Greer Elementary School and George Elliot High School.
On top of seven people being ticketed for speeding, 40 people were given verbal warnings to slow down. Additionally, two people were stopped for trying to access a school's parking lot through the exit, 10 warnings were issued for pedestrians not using designated crossing areas, and many students failed to display an 'N' on their vehicles.
âThis is another reminder for motorists to slow down in school zones,â said Âé¶čAV RCMP media relations officer Sgt. Laura Pollock. âStudents are often distracted and donât necessarily remember to check for traffic so when driving through a school zone slow down and be mindful of students getting to class.â
School zones are in effect on school days from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
