Speak Easy is planning a triumphant return to Âé¶čAV, this time, hungry for redemption.
While touring last year, the band had to cancel their shows in Kamloops, Vancouver and Âé¶čAV after front man, Oliver Sandberg burned his fingertips while maneuvering around a campfire.
âIt was a significant injury that didnât allow him to play guitar,â said drummer, Scott Cole. âIt was pretty devastating.â
The band, that was brewed at Âé¶čAVâs Bean Scene Coffee Works, played their first gig at Milkcrate Records has now been together for three years and have moved to Victoria, B.C. to pursue music seriously and take Speak Easy to the next level.

After releasing their first EP (Thereâs No Place like) 1330 May 2018 the psycho-pop trio are working on new material that they are creating in a more collaborative way instead of writing it separately.
âThe dynamic when we all construct songs and how we want our sound to be is different. A lot of the older stuff that we play and anyone come to our shows in the last few years can say itâs been that dad-gun-pop-psychedelic-rock-fun music. But these songs we are developing now are heavier and more experimental,â said bassist, Lauren Giorgio.

âI feel like as a band we have grown, even as friends from touring and moving, everything. Itâs made us think about how we are playing music with each other and how to keep evolving,â said Giorgio.
The way their new writing process works is how Giorgio describes as âtaking everything out of a fridge and trying to make something cool, in a structured way.â
All the while trying to translate their live sound authentically into their next album, capturing their emotion and expression that comes from performing in front of an audience.
Speak Easy will perform at BNA for the Fireside Festival Jan. 27 tickets are available at
