A group of volunteers is taking the adage, âWhen life gives you lemonsâ and turning it into 100 lemonade stands.
For the last two years, a B.C.-wide lemonade sale fundraising has been working to support JoeAnnaâs House in Âé¶čAV.
JoeAnnaâs House provides accommodations for out-of-town families with loved ones receiving care at Âé¶čAV General Hospital.
This year the Good Lemonade Day event will be held on Saturday, June 8. The event was first started in 2022 by a group of Âé¶čAV volunteers who had a vision of dozens of lemonade stands taking place all on the same day, all raising funds for JoeAnnaâs House.
The last two yearsâ events each saw 70 lemonade stands across the province, raising more than $17,000. Now, the goal is to have 100 groups host a stand across B.C. and raise $20,000.
The staff and friends of Prestige Hotels and Resorts are also involved with the fundraising this year by hosting a lemonade stand at each property.
The Huber family, who owns Prestige Hotels and Resorts, are strong believers in the work that takes place at JoeAnnaâs House.
âJoeAnnaâs House is the manifestation of a deeper understanding of what it means to be family, of the responsibility that we have as a community to take care of one another, especially during difficult times. This home, which welcomes thousands of families each year, many of whom come from cities where Prestige has hotels, is a safe and comfortable place to stay while a loved one receives care at Âé¶čAV General Hospital,â said Hubers.
Registration is open until May 10 to host a lemonade stand.
