After more than two weeks of panic, Gizmo has been found safe and sound.
Gizmo, who is a tri-colored papillon mix, went missing on Saturday, Jan. 13 from his foster home.
He came into the Paws it Forward (PIF) Dog Rescue Centre from a shelter in November.
Last sighted in the area of De Roo and Phillips Road in Vernon, PIF members were tracking his whereabouts, but were unable to locate him.
Despite a leash, identification and air tags attached to his collar, he was unable to be found for weeks.
âDespite having very loving, extremely attentive fosters who have taken an abundance of precautions to ensure Gizmoâs security, his nervous system has not yet decompressed,â said a PIF Faebook post. âGizmo is stuck in fight-or-flight, and looks for any opportunity to run. While monitored and in a fully-fenced yard he unfortunately found and immediately squeezed through a minuscule spot under the fencing.â
Updates throughout last week were looking grim, with no new sightings of Gizmo.
However, on Tuesday, Jan. 30, the little rascal was found, with the assistance of a thermal drone, trackers, traps and cameras.
âHe is headed to the vet to get checked over, but he appears uninjured,â PIF said. âA huge thank you to the community, as well as all the volunteers who spent countless hours committed to bringing him home safe.â
