Take a stroll downtown Saturday to find Âé¶čAVâs biggest block party.
The 28th Downtown Âé¶čAV Block Party takes place on Bernard Avenue and in Kerry Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Block Party will fill Bernard Avenue from Richter Street to The Sails with family fun activities, entertainment, the inflatable park, a three-on-three basketball tournament, the Farmers and Crafters satellite market, shopping and food.
More than 150 vendors will fill the area, with three entertainment stages.
âThe farmers and crafters market is brand new, and with street basketball, Okanagan College signs up kids from all over the place,â said Downtown Âé¶čAV communications manager Ryan Watters.
âItâs a great way to bring down every member of your family and just walk around downtown. Thereâs something for everyone,â he said. âItâs not every day you get to walk down the centre of Benard Aveune.â
The Westcorp Main Stage will highlight the 200 block in Kerry Park with five live acts throughout the day.
Watters said businesses have also been endorsing the event.
Parking is free in the parkades, and it hasnât been an issue in the past, said Watters.
âThis is my first one and Iâm very excited,â said Downtown Âé¶čAVâs new executive director Ninette Ollgaard. âAs a true newcomer, it is absolutely amazing to be part of this vibrant, downtown community event.â
âLast year Downtown Âé¶čAV saw 17,000 to 20,000 people experience the event and we are anticipating that again this Saturday. So come join us to walk Bernard Avenue or just hang out on one of the 31 patios and watch all the action,â she said.
Bernard Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be no through traffic on Pandosy Street between Queensway Avenue and Lawrence Avenue.
