The full Meet Me on Bernard experience is coming to life on Canada Day.

This year, the Downtown Âé¶čAV event started during May long weekend with the 200 block of Bernard Avenue closed to traffic and open to pedestrians. Starting on Canada Day (Saturday, July 1), the closed to traffic portion will extend to the 300 block of Bernard, running from the Sails to Pandosy Street.

“Patio season is already in full swing, and we’re excited to bring events and vibrancy downtown through the Meet Me On Bernard program,” said Downtown Âé¶čAV Association executive director Mark Burley. “Meet Me On Bernard is all about the nostalgic feel of a classic Âé¶čAV summer with plenty to see and do when you come downtown.”

Meet Me on Bernard started in 2020 and is an initiative for downtown shops to remain open seven days a week and for restaurants to extend their patios out into the streets.

Many events like Parks Alive, the downtown Âé¶čAV Block Party, Show N Shine, and more will also take place on Bernard Street or Kerry Park throughout the summer.

To set up the extension to the summer-long staple, Bernard Avenue between Water Street and Pandosy Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic on Thursday, June 29.

Meet Me On Bernard runs until Labour Day weekend.
