PHOTOS: Thousands pack Â鶹AV's waterfront for Canada Day

The waterfront and Prospera Place was filled with people wearing red and white

Tuesday was one of the busiest days of the year in Â鶹AV with thousands of people downtown celebrating Canada's 158th birthday.

Activities and live music filled the air as the 26th annual Canada Day festival took place as Waterfront Park while the 50th annual Folkfest filled Prospera Place.

Many cultural performances took place throughout the day at Folkfest while live music has happening in three locations - The Waterfront Island Stage (which was open for its first Canada Day since renovations were completed), the Beach Stage, and Stuart Park.

Among the many local vendors that lined Waterfront Beach and Waterfront Park, there was a family zone, and a the Made in Canada Marketplace. Save-On-Foods handed out free watermelon while free cake was at Folkfest to celebrate the national holiday.

Fireworks are expected to take place at 10 p.m. on Tuesday night.
