It was smiles all around at the first Okanagan Pet Expo.
The event was hosted June 11 at the Laurel Packinghouse in Âé¶čAV.
Event Producer Rosanne Ting-mak Brown was thrilled to finally bring the vision to life.
âWe wanted to run originally in 2020 and we all know why we couldnât,â Ting-mak Brown laughed.
The day featured various pet-related vendors, showed off some adoptable dogs and had a chick-holding station.
Ting-mak Brown said it seemed like a no-brainer to start a local pet show.
âWe saw a pet expo in another town and we were thinking, well, we have such dog lovers in the Okanagan and in Âé¶čAV specifically, why donât we have a pet event here? So, we brought it here.â
It was more than just dogs, however, with cats, a bird, a turtle and some frogs joining the fun.
The event ran from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lots of fun activities including a puppy picnic and a pug dash.
The pet expo will likely become an annual event, according to Ting-mak Brown.
