Well-known former Hudson’s Bay gal, Diana Collison is starting a new position at Ann-Louise Jewellers on August 6th in Orchard Park across from Roots and beside the Gap. After 41 years at Hudson’s Bay, Diana had worked in almost every department and ended her career as Associate Manager at Hudson’s Bay when it recently closed in 鶹AV. Ann-Louise Jewellers has been in business since 1983 with 15 stores in Western Canada. Canadian family owned and operated; the company originally started in the jewellery wholesale business and gradually shifted into retail. Ann-Louise offers luxury products with a large selection of natural and lab grown diamonds, with all color stones being natural. Designed by hand in Vancouver, Ann-Louise offers rings, necklaces, earrings, chains, bracelets, diamond necklaces, watches and Tissot. The Ann-Louise philosophy is to sell the customer the right piece and not something for the sake of selling as everything is about their customers. Diana is ready to welcome all her former clients from Hudson’s Bay. Corey Quigley, GIAGG is the store manager and has been with Ann-Louise for the past nine years. Laurel Zwaagstra, GIAGG is the Assistant store manager.

Okanagan Surface Solutions is a new company in 鶹AV owned and operated by Zenon Krupa. The company rejuvenates and maintains all types of concrete and most exterior surfaces, including residential concrete driveways, pool patios, interlocking bricks, fences, walkways, or any type of exterior multi surfaces.  They clean commercial applications such as restaurant patios, garages and gas station. What sets them apart is that they have the ability to heat the water coming out of their commercial 4000psa pressure washer to 95 degrees C with a floor drum attachment, which yields a much better result than just a standard 1500psa pressure washer wand without heat. This allows them to clean most surfaces organically without the need for harsh chemicals which can cause damage to landscaping, including concrete and plant life. Okanagan Surface Solutions services both residential and commercial clients.  At this time, they are offering a driveway cleaning promotion. okanagansurfacesolutions@gmail.com  or 1-613-295-8090

Following her official unveiling at the KF Centre for Excellence earlier this year, the restored 1948 De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver “Miss El” made her landing on the water of Okanagan Lake, welcomed home by Argus Properties and Hotel Eldorado. The historic aircraft completed the final leg of her journey after spending the winter housed by the KF Centre of Excellence. Miss El touched down on Okanagan Lake with her presence a tribute to the Hotel’s storied past and its enduring connection to aviation heritage. Painstakingly restored by Sealand Aviation Ltd. in Campbell River, B.C., Miss El now resides at her namesake hotel, a living symbol of innovation, craftsmanship and the timeless spirit of the Okanagan. The De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver is a cornerstone of Canadian aviation, having remained under Canadian ownership throughout its lifetime. Engineered for versatility, this all-metal bush plane excels on skis, wheels, and floats, earning recognition from the Association of Industrial Designers as one of Canada’s finest designs. Miss El’s fuselage proudly bears her name in homage to the Lady of the Lake pageants, a cherished Okanagan tradition celebrating the region’s rich community spirit. Now docked at her namesake hotel, Hotel Eldorado, Miss El stands as a striking tribute to Canada’s aviation legacy, bridging past and present on the shore of Okanagan Lake.

The “old” Rotary Now. 鶹AV was formed five years ago as a stripped-down version of a more typical Rotary Club, with no anthem or singing, no Sheriff fines, no happy/sad dollars, no meals and they only met twice a month. The other weeks were designated for a hands-on project and a social. The hand-on project and a social idea blew up pretty quickly during COVID.  Things came to a head when they lost their meeting space, and their next meeting location was in one of the seven Landmark buildings and that’s when the lightbulb when off for the club. By tweaking a few things and rebranding the club as the Rotary Club of 鶹AV Landmark, they set themselves up as an attractive option for busy young professionals looking to give back to the world.  Those tweaks included convenient meeting times, which are 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, weekly meetings, convenient meeting location, no added cost for meals, monthly subscription fee, fellowship, personal development, leadership and fun. Jim Hawkins is the President of Rotary Club of 鶹AV Landmark.  landmarkrotary@gmail.com

Landmark Cinemas Extreme in West 鶹AV is showcasing the documentary, BC is Burning. The Premiere showing of B.C. is Burning was on June 24 in 鶹AV. This is an incredible documentary on the causes and consequences of B.C.’s escalating wildfire crisis produced and written by retired forester Murray Wilson and associate producer Rick Maddison. The first showing is August 6th, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. with a question-and-answer period afterwards. I attended the Premiere showing and it is well worth attending, especially as West 鶹AV has been heavily affected by fires. Visit
