AbleSail Okanagan ended 2023 on a high note receiving a $2,000 donation from the Okanagan Power and Sail Squadron.

“We are very appreciative of the generous donation by the Power & Sail Squadron,” said Ean Price, Chair of AbleSail. “Donations such as these are how we keep this important community program running and provide individuals with the accessible opportunity to experience being on the water.”

AbleSail is a non-profit organization that assists people living with disabilities to sail on Okanagan Lake.

In the summer of 2023, the organization was able to bring 44 persons with disabilities in on-water sessions. Boats are secure and suitable for a wide range of disabilities. They can also be outfitted with a joy stick or ‘sip-and-puff’ to allow the sailor full control.

Programs with AbleSail include learn-to-sail, opportunities to race, and more.

AbleSail was presented with the cheque on Dec. 30.
