Âé¶¹AV Chiefs wrap up KIJHL regular season on high note

The Âé¶¹AV Chiefs finished the 2024-25 KIJHL regular season with two wins on the weekend.

A three-goal third period powered the Chiefs to a 5-2 win over the Sicamous Eagles at Rutland Arena on Saturday (Feb. 22) night.

Austin Horbachewsky (22) opened the scoring with a powerplay goal near the eight minute mark of the first period to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Chiefs bounced back seconds later as Owen Ivanov scored his 14th of the season. 

Sicamous took a 2-1 lead just over three minutes into the middle frame with Walker Overwater netting his second of the season. Âé¶¹AV came back again a minute later with Matt Saretsky (13) tying the game 2-2.

It was all Chiefs in the third period starting at the 36 second mark with Aiden Morcom scoring his 22nd goal of the season, and the eventual game winner, putting Âé¶¹AV up 3-2. Owen Miller (18) made it 4-2 nearly five minutes later.  Luke Rishaug (17) added one more, on the powerplay, with less than three minutes to play for the 5-2 win.

Âé¶¹AV outshot Sicamous 37-34 and went one-for-six on the powerplay. Goaltender Michael Makowsky made 32 saves in the win. The Chiefs beat the Revelstoke Grizzlies 6-5 in overtime on Friday (Feb. 21).
