To the editor:
How often does Coun. Gail Given drive on Highway 97 without any passengers? Has she ever experienced the frustration of trying to move into the HOV lane in order to turn right? If yes, how often?
Alistair Watersâ article on page A1 âGet Out: A Âé¶čAV councillor lashed out at lone drivers who use the HOV laneâ doesnât mention Givenâs own driving experiences on Highway 97. Perhaps he can ask her (and all other council members) the same questions for a follow-up article.

If you havenât read it, Page A7 of todayâs Capital News (Jan. 30) published some of the Facebook comments regarding the HOV lane, with the headline:
âReaders weigh in on Âé¶čAV councillorâs reaction to HOV laneâ
I encourage the entire council to go to and read ALL the Facebook comments on the issue.
My two favourite comments are at the top:
Brittany Mccune
You HAVE to drive in the HOV lane if you ever want to turn right⊠God forbid someone ever letting you into a lane in Âé¶čAV.
Kirsten Hansen Merrifield
They should have put the HOV lane on the left side like all the other HOV lanes. Dumbest planner ever!
