Jeffrey Robert Johnson passed away peacefully on March 17, 2018. Jeff led a happy and fun-loving life before succumbing to cancer.
Jeff was born on October 31st, 1934 in Â鶹AV B.C. His first family home in Â鶹AV was at the Church Manse behind the Benvoulin Church. His childhood was filled with carefree adventures growing up in the early days of Â鶹AV. In 1953, Jeff joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and traveled throughout Canada. While stationed in Edmonton he met the love of his life, Irene and married in 1958.
After starting a family in Edmonton, they moved to Nanaimo and then back to Â鶹AV in 1969. He worked many years in the electrical trade and started his own business, Central Electric, in 1981. In retirement, Jeff dedicated his time through volunteering at the Â鶹AV Airport for 10 years and the Â鶹AV General Hospital for 18 years. He loved to spend time with family and friends and was always happy to lend a helping hand or fix whatever was broken.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene; daughters Diane (Jeff) Nelson, and Brenda Johnson; grandchildren: Brittany Nelson, Jordan Nelson, Tierney Nelson and Ace Jaegli ; Sister Dorothy Bennett, brothers, Henry (Doris) Johnson and John Johnson; sister In-law Shirley (Dick) Bartels, brother In-law Don (Bonnie) Brandon; life-long friend Frank (Kiku) Naka and Buddy his beloved fur baby.
He always had a special place in his heart for his many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is predeceased by parents, Harry and Agnes Johnson, and sisters; Monica Hardy, Claire Smith and Patricia Lowen.
The plans for a celebration of life are in the works, date to be announced.
