Work will start Tuesday on a project aimed at making it safer for UBC Okanagan staff and students and anyone else who walks, rides a bicycle and uses other alternative forms of transportation, to get to the campus in north Â鶹AV from the Rutland area on the east side of Highway 97.
Construction is set to commence on a multi-use pathway connecting Bulman Road, under Highway 97, to the Hollywood Road North/John Hindle Drive roundabout.
The work will include include a four-metre-wide pathway that will intersect the future planned Okanagan Rail Corridor trail.
The work is expected to be complete by September, in time for a return to classes for UBCO students and staff.
The city's $1 million investment will provide cycling access to serve faculty, students and staff with a safe and direct link to the UBCO and is being funded by federal Gas Tax Community Works Fund.
