VIDEO: Shoreline clean-up underway in Â鶹AV

As the level of Okanagan Lake continues to recede, clean up efforts are now underway

Clean up efforts are underway around Okanagan Lake as flood waters continue to recede and more beaches start to open to the public.

A shoreline clean-up event began this morning at 10 a.m. in downtown Â鶹AV as receding waters make way to debris left on shore.

On Friday, crews were hard at work on Rotary Beach in Â鶹AV, in this video captured by Capital News reader Dirk Handke.

Crews are continuing to remove some flood defenses and cleaning up debris on those public beach and road ends that are at a higher elevation and unlikely to sustain any wave damaging erosion.

Crews were working in Peachland and West Â鶹AV and completing activities along some City of Â鶹AV areas in City Park, Tugboat Bay and Sutherland Bay.

Contracted crews are working on debris removal from the lake and along public areas from Rotary Beach north toward the W.R. Bennett Bridge.
