Weather was the real criminal Wednesday night, as Sicamous RCMP were kept busy with calls relating to carnage from the storm.
The storm that blew through the Shuswap on July 16 required all hands on deck, with emergency services taking a collaborative approach.
Sgt. Murray McNeil said they received calls for assistance from two different houseboat companies who each reported they had boats "washed up sideways" at Marble Point before 8 p.m. The RCMP then called the Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue Shuswap to respond, who then rescued the stranded boaters.
McNeil added police were also called to assist with "several downed trees, some of which had struck BC Hydro lines," with power out of in parts of town. Lines were down on Rauma Crescent, with Hydro on scene working to restore service.
"Several trees fell during the violent wind storm overnight in Sicamous causing damage to property and, in some cases, blocking roads," McNeil said, with Sicamous Fire Service also having responded to help clear roads.
Clean up efforts by multiple agencies continued throughout Thursday.
