The Âé¶¹AV RCMP have confirmed the identity of the body found inside the home destroyed by fire in the 900 block of Stockwell Avenue on April 1 and are calling the discovery a homicide.

The body has been identified as Michael Madsen, a 23-year-old Âé¶¹AV resident who lived at that house with other males at the time.

The Âé¶¹AV RCMP Serious Crime Unit and the BC Coroners Service have been engaged with Madsen’s family since the onset of this investigation.

The Âé¶¹AV RCMP is asking the public for information in relation to any contact person(s) may have had with Madsen on Friday, March 31, 2017, and/or on the night of March 31 to April 1, 2017.

Policei say Madsen was known to drive a 1993 white Chevy Cavalier.

The investigation so far has revealed to police that Madsen’s death was related to the drug trade and the organized crime element in Âé¶¹AV.
