A new chief financial officer (CFO) will be taking the reins at Lake Country on June 20.
With 14 years of progressive experience in local government, Chartered Accountant Tanya Garost was a front runner candidate for the position through the extensive recruitment and screening process.
âWe are pleased to have Ms. Garost join the senior management team at Lake Country,â said chief administrative officer Alberto De Feo.
âBesides a well-rounded range of experience and education, her board and volunteer teaching involvement with the Government Finance Officers Association of British Columbia (GFOABC) is a real benefit to our community. We look forward to having her oversee the wide range of responsibilities of the Finance Department in Lake Country.â
Garost will be leaving her post as general manager of finance and corporate services with the City of West Âé¶čAV, where she has been responsible for overseeing and providing strategic direction to information services, purchasing, finance and recreation.
As part of Lake Countryâs CFO candidate selection process, the selection committee heard from short-listed candidates on budgetary reporting, communications strategy to enhance public understanding, and their thoughts about managing growth in B.C.âs fastest growing community.
Garost will be introduced at the June 21st televised public Lake Country council meeting. From then on she will make regular presentations to council on financial topics, provide recommendations and respond to relevant questions.
