On an officer on patrol with the Âé¶čAV RCMP Downtown Enforcement Unit (DEU) spotted a suspect June 14, at 2:20 p.m., wanted on an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The officer arrested the man and found he was in possession of various illegal drugs, as well as a concealed butterfly knife and can of bear spray.
In his possession were:
âą 1.16 grams of suspected heroin
âą two grams of suspected methamphetamine
âą 1.37 grams of crack cocaine.
âThe DEU is dedicated to Âé¶čAVâs downtown core,â said Const. Jesse OâDonaghey. âDEU proactively works closely with various partner agencies to reduce street crime and make the downtown a safer place for everyone to enjoy. Officers of the DEU have a relationship with their clients and regularly breach those clients or arrest them on outstanding arrest warrants,â OâDonaghey said in a press release.
The 25-year-old Âé¶čAV man, of no fixed address, was held in police custody to appear in court on today, June 15. He faces potential charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a prohibited weapon.
