If you walked around downtown Â鶹AV on Saturday and noticed the flags at City Hall standing at half mast, there’s a good reason for it.

The celebration of life for former Â鶹AV council member and Â鶹AV-Lake Country MLA Al Horning was held on Saturday, June 10. The flags were at half mast to honour the 83-year old who died on March 23 of this year.

Raised in Â鶹AV, Horning was elected to Â鶹AV City Council in 1980 and stayed in that position until 1988. He was elected to the House of Commons that year.

In 2002, he returned to Â鶹AV City Council and three years later in 2005, he was elected the MLA for Â鶹AV-Lake Country.
