False information spreading about Penticton water quality, city warns

Water quality along Penticton Channel, local beaches are 'within the acceptable ranges': city officials

Signs that depict City of Penticton branding and push "false information" about local water quality are spreading around the community.

In a public notice on July 3, the municipality said it is aware of incorrect claims being made about the quality of Penticton Channel water. It says such information is also being spread on handouts that impersonate the city.

"These signs are not posted or distributed by the City of Penticton," the notice reads.

Water quality along the Channel and at Penticton beaches are "within the acceptable ranges, as of the latest Interior Health water quality samples," the city added.

Current test results for local water can be accessed at

Anyone who comes across the signs and handouts is asked to report them to the city by emailing publicworks@penticton.ca.
