A new optometry clinic has opened its doors in 鶹AV’s Guisachan Village Shopping Centre, introducing a fresh approach to eye care that emphasizes comprehensive service, advanced technology and a curated collection of eyewear.

– conveniently located just a short drive from the Mission, Kettle Valley, Landmark and downtown – is more than just another eye clinic. It’s a practice rooted in personal experience, community connection and the belief that clear, comfortable vision is key to living life fully.

The story behind Visionology begins in a kindergarten classroom, where a young student struggled to see.

“My kindergarten teacher was the first person to notice I was having difficulty,” says Dr. Nancy Friessen, Optometrist and owner of . “She suggested my parents take me to see an eye doctor, and it turned out I needed glasses badly. Within a month of getting my first pair, I caught up at school and even managed to graduate to Grade 1.”

That early experience with vision challenges shaped not just an academic trajectory but also a professional path. From those first glasses to contact lenses as a teenager – and eventually LASIK surgery in adulthood – Dr. Nancy’s journey through various vision correction options offers valuable insight into what patients experience every day.

“I’ve lived through many of the same things my clients are going through,” she explains. “I see my role as delivering thorough eye care while listening closely to clients’ concerns and finding the best eyewear options for their lifestyles.”

Visionology Optometry describes itself as ‘a primary vision care clinic serving the Okanagan community,’ offering personalized service and comprehensive care to help people optimize their vision and live their best lives. The clinic’s mission centres on delivering primary eye care to the 鶹AV community while fostering wellness through collaboration with other locally owned small businesses.

Today’s lifestyle presents unique challenges for our eyes – whether it’s spending hours on screens, dealing with dry indoor air or enjoying recreational activities like boating on Okanagan Lake or golfing at one of the valley’s renowned courses.

“Our lives are becoming busier,” Dr. Nancy says. “Our goal is for clients to be able to live fully with their vision optimized – so it’s something they don’t have to think or worry about.”

Located in the breezeway of Guisachan Village Shopping Centre with complimentary parking, the clinic provides comprehensive eye exams with no hidden fees and invests in patient health through the latest technology.

Visionology’s commitment extends beyond clinical care. The practice actively supports the broader community through partnerships with local charities and small businesses – offering expert care, personal attention and community support.

Currently, the clinic supports the Central Okanagan Food Bank. “We’re big believers in fostering local communities,” Dr. Nancy says. “We’re also fortunate to partner with local artist Debby Merkel, whose Mosaic Series collection brings colour to our space.” The clinic is also a proud member of the 鶹AV Chamber of Commerce and regularly attends local events to help shape the region’s business landscape.
