BCHL changes playoff format for 2025/26 hockey season

The Brooks Bandits and the Chilliwack Chiefs are scheduled to play their Fred Page Cup Finals rematch on Oct. 18, 2025.

The BC Hockey League has released its schedule for 2025/26, with 20 teams taking the ice for 54 games of regular season play. 

Friday, Sept. 19 marks opening night for the coming hockey season, with BCHL teams divided into the following four leagues:

Coastal West:

  • Alberni Valley Bulldogs
  • Cowichan Valley Capitals
  • Nanaimo Clippers
  • Powell River Kings
  • Victoria Grizzlies

Coastal East:

  • Chilliwack Chiefs
  • Coquitlam Express
  • Langley Rivermen
  • Prince George Spruce Kings
  • Surrey Eagles

Interior West:

  • Cranbrook Bucks
  • Salmon Arm Silverbacks
  • Trail Smoke Eaters
  • Vernon Vipers
  • West Âé¶¹AV Warriors

Interior East:

  • Blackfalds Bulldogs
  • Brooks Bandits
  • Okotoks Oilers
  • Sherwood Park Crusaders
  • Spruce Grove Saints

With the new season comes a new playoff format, announced the BCHL, where the top four teams from each division will qualify for the post season. 

"The first two rounds will be played within the division, then division winners will play in the conference finals before the championship series," said the BCHL. 

This year's BCHL showcase is scheduled for Oct. 12 to 16, followed by the Fred Page Cup Finals rematch (Brooks Bandits versus Chilliwack Chiefs) on Oct. 18. 

Regular season is set to end on March 29, with playoffs beginning April 3.
