Canadian Blood Services is in need of more donors.
Manager of Business Development for B.C. Interior Alison Faulkner said the organization has set a lofty goal of attracting one million new blood and plasma donors in the next five years.
Faulkner noted that about half of Canadians are eligible to donate, but only about one in 76 actually do.
"We are anticipating the demands will be for blood at least 10 per cent more and for plasma at least 50 per cent more," Faulkner commented.
