The manager of the Âé¶čAV Downtown Marina is being praised for his help in locating a stolen WaveRunner.
The small watercraft was reported stolen on July 18 from a property in West Âé¶čAV.
Once the theft was made public, RCMP reached out to the Downtown Marina for assistance.
âTheir team is excellent and has voluntarily helped us out many a time with incidents around the downtown marina and incidents on the water, including some traffic control during yesterdayâs arrest of a male in the water by Poplar Point,â said Cpl. Michael Gauthier. âIn this particular case, we gave manager Lachlan Gibbings a general location of where the machine was stolen from and where it could have ended up, and he went searching.â
The $30,000 vessel was found by Gibbings tied to a mooring buoy in Lake Country's Okanagan Centre.
Gibbings also towed the WaveRunner back to the marina and secured it for the owner.
âThank you again to the team at the Âé¶čAV Downtown Marina for their continued support. Despite these locks having been cut, we remind all boat owners to try and secure their vessels appropriately and consider installing or hiding a tracking device in their machine as an extra precaution, said Gauthier.
