Okanagan and Shuswap residents should prepare to batten down the hatches as Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch in those areas.
On Saturday, July 19, the statement said "conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms" that could produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
The notice is in effect for the Central and North Okanagan – including Â鶹AV and Vernon – as well as the South Thompson.
"When lightning roars, go indoors!" the statement advises, adding that lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
