Canada Day in Peachland looks to be one of the Okanagan’s must-see celebrations, with a full slate of free, family-friendly events on Tuesday, July 1.

The festivities begin with a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at the 50+ Activity Centre (5672 Beach Avenue), hosted by the Peachland 50+ group.

From there, Heritage Park, Beach Avenue and 1st Street become the heart of the action. Activities start at 1 p.m., including games with the Boys and Girls Club, bouncy castles, glitter tattoos, and an afternoon magic show with Leif David from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.

Hotdogs courtesy of the Peachland Lions Club will be served starting at 2 p.m., while supplies last, and kids can try their hand at T-shirt art in the Heritage Park gazebo between 2:30 and 4 p.m.

The Canada Day Parade starts at 4:30 p.m. and runs along Beach Avenue from 13th Street to 1st Street, ending in front of Heritage Park. That section of Beach Avenue will be closed to vehicles from 3:45 to 5 p.m.

Activities continue into the evening with a welcome from Mayor Patrick Van Minsel, the singing of O Canada, and the ceremonial cake cutting at 6 p.m. Then the stage lights up with live music, starting with Papa Thom & The Elderly Brothers from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by The Partimers from 8 to 10 p.m.

Weather permitting, a dazzling display of fireworks will be launched at 10 p.m. from a barge on Okanagan Lake, promising one of the best fireworks shows in the Valley. Certified technicians will be handling the launch, and all fire safety protocols will be in place.

Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the concerts and fireworks comfortably.
